Home-School Communication: Building a Multi-dimensional Collaboration Network

At HHKCS, a child’s development is never seen as a solitary journey. It is a long-term “academic endeavour” jointly shaped by both school and family. The more international and systematic the learning pathway, the greater the demand for effective home-school collaboration –

Is information transparent? Is communication precise? Are our goals aligned?

These factors directly impact a student’s learning experience and future choices.

HHKCS has always placed the ‘home-school partnership’ at the core of its educational ethos. Accordingly, as we begin the new academic year, we are comprehensively enhancing our home-school communication system. With more timely feedback, a more structured approach, and warmer interactions, we will join hands with every parent to support their child’s individual growth.

Building a Multi-dimensional Collaboration Network

An ideal partnership begins with seamless communication. To achieve better connection and deeper interaction between home and school, HHKCS is fully upgrading its communication system for the 2025-26 academic year. Building on the success of last year’s phase-specific Coffee Mornings, we are systematically constructing a multi-dimensional communication network. This network centres on the Moments 365 platform, integrated with WeCom parent groups, email, and the Parent Representative system.

This system covers all scenarios of home-school interaction, making communication both ‘ever-present’ and ‘purposefully focused’:

  • Daily Learning, Clearly Visible: Through the ‘Journal’ feature on Moments 365, subject teachers regularly share lesson highlights, learning progress, and suggestions for home support, allowing parents to witness their child’s incremental progress, even beyond the classroom.
  • Instant Communication, Real-time Collaboration: WeCom parent groups efficiently address daily queries and facilitate a two-way communication loop between home and school.
  • Key Information, Delivered Precisely: School and class announcements, monthly newsletters, and the academic year calendar will be pushed via the platform promptly, ensuring critical information is neither missed nor delayed. The email system further guarantees that key notifications are received completely and accurately.
  • Deep Engagement, a Warm Response: Phase-specific Coffee Mornings and the Parent Representative system provide a welcoming setting for addressing specific concerns and exploring deeper educational topics, ensuring every voice is heard and respected.

Tailored Support for Each Stage of Growth

We recognise that children at different stages have distinct developmental focuses and face unique challenges. Therefore, home-school communication must be tailored accordingly.

The successfully concluded November Coffee Mornings were a prime example of this approach in practice. We held dedicated sessions tailored for four specific phases: G1-G3, G4-G6, G7-G8, and G9-G11.

Discussions ranged from habit formation and reading initiation in the lower years, to fostering independent learning skills in the middle years; and from subject specialisation and time management in the middle school, to university planning and academic enrichment in the upper years – each session featured the Headmaster sharing the school’s development vision to ensure alignment, while subject leaders and class teachers engaged in highly targeted small-group discussions with parents.

This tiered dialogue ensures conversations hit upon the core issues relevant to each stage, allowing every parental concern to receive the most relevant and professional response. It enables care and support to be precisely targeted and effectively implemented.

Where Individualised Teaching Takes Root

Whether through optimising the online Moments 365 platform or deepening offline exchanges via Coffee Mornings, the ultimate goal is to harness the combined strength of school and family to build an ‘Educational Community’ that supports the individual growth of every child. At HHKCS, this means engagement from everyone – from the Headmaster and subject leaders to every class teacher.

  • Leadership Team: Steering the direction and building consensus, ensuring the school’s development blueprint aligns with parental expectations.
  • Subject Leaders: Providing professional insight and responding to deeper queries, offering academic strategy, learning pathway, and development advice.
  • Class Teachers: Offering daily companionship and ongoing observation of growth details, providing timely feedback on a child’s learning habits, emotional shifts, and classroom engagement.

This all-in approach to partnership means a child’s needs can be identified more swiftly, addressed more accurately, and supported more holistically. We are not merely knowledge transmitters, but your ‘educational partners’, walking alongside you. Through daily communication, collaboration, and companionship, the HHKCS home-school partnership is building a warm and steadfast community for growth.

Education is a long journey accompanied by both school and family. We sincerely thank all parents for the trust, participation, and valuable feedback you have provided throughout this process. It is your thoughtful reflection, feedback, and collective effort that allows HHKCS home-school partnership system to continually refine and evolve.
